Practice demonstration — no student information is collected

A supported front door—not another program to navigate

A simpler way for students to reach the people already ready to help.

Where Students Turn First™ gives students one clear place to begin. The QR code is the shortcut, the landing page is the signpost, the district-approved request is the handoff, and school staff provide the response.

This public practice site has no forms, accounts, text fields, submissions, or stored student information.

The partnership behind the code

Schools are not purchasing a QR code.

They are implementing a supported early-access system that is customized, tested, launched, and sustained with human guidance. The visible QR is only the doorway.

How it works

One pathway. Four understandable steps.

The system does not ask technology to replace judgment. It makes the first step easier, gives the request a known destination, and helps staff close the loop.

01

A student scans or clicks

The same school-approved pathway can be reached from a poster, wallet card, Chromebook, student portal, or school website.

02

The landing page acts as a signpost

Simple choices help the student identify the closest kind of support without needing to know a staff title or explain everything first.

03

The school’s request process routes it

A short district-approved request goes only to the designated staff member and approved backup for that pathway.

04

A person closes the loop

Staff accept responsibility, contact the student, connect support, set follow-up, and document completion using the district’s approved process.

Clear ownership

The district controls the live system. Live Free helps build it well.

We design around the school’s approved people, policies, technology, and response structure. The final pathway is not activated until the school authorizes it.

The school or district approves and owns
  • Where the live landing page and request form are hosted
  • Which staff receive each type of request
  • Backup routing and escalation rules
  • Monitoring hours and response expectations
  • Privacy, retention, access, and documentation settings
  • Final emergency language and school-specific directions
Live Free provides and supports
  • Pathway design and school-specific customization
  • Student-facing language and support choices
  • Ready-to-use QR codes, posters, cards, and digital graphics
  • Routing, testing, and launch-readiness guidance
  • Staff orientation and implementation materials
  • Ongoing consultation and pathway review

Important boundaries

What the QR Pathway is—and what it is not.

Not a crisis line

Immediate-danger directions appear before any routine request. The pathway is not continuously monitored.

Not anonymous reporting

A district may choose school sign-in or another approved identification method. The pathway does not promise anonymity.

Not a clinical platform

It helps a student reach the school’s human support structure earlier. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional judgment.

Not a new student-data owner

The live request is designed to remain in the district-approved environment rather than creating a separate Live Free student database.

The adult side

A request is only useful when someone owns the next step.

The staff workflow demonstrates a practical close-the-loop sequence: accept responsibility, begin contact, connect the student, set follow-up, and confirm completion. A live school chooses the exact tools, permissions, and records.

1

Accept ownershipA designated adult takes responsibility.

2

Make contactThe student is reached through an approved method.

3

Connect supportA next step is established—not merely a notification.

4

Follow throughResponsibility, timing, and completion are confirmed.

Implementation

Built with the school—not dropped on the school.

Each launch is customized and tested before activation. The goal is a pathway that staff understand, students can use, and district leaders can govern.

  1. 1

    Discover

Map the school’s existing support people, referral paths, boundaries, and technology requirements.

  2. 2

    Build

Customize the language, pathways, recipients, backup rules, visuals, and school-approved request process.

  3. 3

    Test

Run fictional scenarios to verify every choice, notification, handoff, response expectation, and safety instruction.

  4. 4

    Launch

Orient staff, place the materials, authorize activation, and review the pathway after the first 30 days.

A strong fit for grades 6–12
